2015 NLC Oakland’s Fellows Fundraiser

Roots & Renaissance

Strong Leaders, Strong Communities

Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 5 - 8pm

811 Washington Street, Oakland, CA 94607

Join us for an unforgettable night to celebrate Oakland at our inaugural NLC Fellows Fundraiser. Hosted by New Leaders Council’s inaugural Oakland class, the event will highlight the strength of our diverse, connected community and the leaders whose work makes Oakland a national center of social progress.

In the spirit of Oakland’s proud roots and current moment of revival, our celebration fundraiser will honor both an established pioneering organization and a newcomer who are making a positive impact on our society. Your attendance ensures that Oakland’s brightest emerging leaders will have the leadership development and support that will allow them to reach their highest potential.

The mission of NLC is to develop the progressive leaders of tomorrow. Identifying promising young leaders outside traditional power structures, NLC has equipped thousands of political entrepreneurs with the skills they need to create inclusively vibrant and socially just communities as they rise to the top of their respective fields.

By attending this event, you will be supporting the next Oakland cohort of political and community leaders making real social justice change. Your support develops important skills in advocacy, stakeholder analysis and engagement, strategic communications, fundraising, and strengthens this uniquely diverse, cross-sector network of political entrepreneurs in a region that needs strong, connected, and passionate leaders.

This year’s Oakland fellows are leading the way on issues that are critical to Oakland such as:

  • Racial justice
  • Education
  • Juvenile justice and dismantling the school-to-prison pipeline
  • Youth development
  • LGBTQ health and community building
  • Immigrant rights and economic citizenship
  • Clean tech
  • Grassroots political organizing and civic tech
  • Leadership development
  • Criminal justice reform
  • Local government transparency
  • Human rights

Oakland has been the birthplace of many significant movements and changemakers. By supporting NLC Oakland, you are helping to write the next exciting chapter in our history.

Lead with us. Help us build strong leaders for strong communities.
